Join us for a unique cleanup that will have parts of it filmed and be highlighting FoF for an episode of “Jason the Butcher”, an action/adventure show on the Outdoor Channel that focuses on “field-to-fork” practices. emphasizing self-sufficiency and reconnecting with food sources. The star of the show, Jason Nauert, is a native of Woodland Park highly that appreciates everything FoF does and wanted us to be a part of his “back to roots” episode..
The producer has specified an area of Rampart Range Rd he would like the film crew to focus on and (no surprise) it has a number of areas that need our attention. We will have 2 carpool locations coming from Monument and Woodland Park, and then meet up at our Base Camp that is central to those spots.
We welcome and need additional volunteers, but ask that if anyone is joining you to have them also sign up with an email so that we can make sure to have enough supplies, food and t-shirts for everyone. If they decide to come last minute that is ok as well. Sunday looks to be a lovely day, but we suggest that you dress in layers as weather is ever changing up on the mountain.
CARAVAN MEETING TIME & LOCATION: ARRIVE EARLY at one of the caravan locations listed below:. The roads do NOT require 4WD, but higher clearance and AWD is recommended. They are dirt, washboardy, and can have some drainage ruts. Give yourself plenty of time to go an appropriate speed.
8:00 DEPARTS MONUMENT: Dirty Woman Park (17575 Mitchell Ave) in the main parking lot by the playing field.
8:15 DEPARTS WOODLAND PARK: Merit Academy (600 E Kelley’s Rd) in the bus loop on the east side of the school on Rampart Range Rd.
SIGN IN & SAFETY BRIEFING: 9:00am at Base Camp
LUNCH: PROVIDED around NOON
BRING: Refillable water bottle, gloves, wear sunscreen, a coat, long pants & STURDY shoes/boots
FUR BABIES: Although we all enjoy having 4 legged family members join the cleanups, we have found that it can be a bit much for them with all the people, food and other animals. For the safety of everyone, we now ask that they stay home.
We are also working on reducing the use of cups & water bottles so we ask that you bring a refillable water bottle. We will have water to refill them and make drinks at lunch. If you do not have one, we will have bottles of water that can be labeled and reused for the day.
PROVIDED: water, gloves (if needed), grabbers, trash bags
If you are unable to make it I ask that you please let us know so that you can be removed from the list, otherwise, we will plan to see you there.
