PPIHC FanFest

Pike’s Peak International Hill Climb Pre-Race Party

Join us at the largest street festival in Colorado Springs. Watch the Red Bull Motorcycle jumpers and enjoy all the pre-race activities and exhibits.

Wear your FoF shirt to promote the cause and stop by our booth to say Hi. If you attend the actual race on Sunday keep an eye out for our banners on the racetrack and we encourage you to wear your shirt and let people know Focus on the Forest will be out on Monday cleaning up what’s left so Pike’s Peak can be enjoyed by all for the rest of the summer.

RESCHEDULED Mt. Herman Makeover - 1

RESCHEDULED Mt Herman Makeover – Phase 1

Phase 1 – Cleanup from FS320A – FS320C. Trash Cleanup & Graffiti Removal on Mount Herman Rd (FS 320). Join locals from both sides of the mountain and explore new areas. It will be done in 3 phases, one per month.

IF YOU PRE-REGISTERED FOR SUN, 6/23, PLEASE SEND AN EMAIL TO LET US KNOW IF YOU WILL BE THERE. NO NEED TO PRE-REGISTER AGAIN.

Registration :       8:30am

Safety Briefing at FS Road 320A :  9:00am

Lunch:   noon, PROVIDED.  Location will be on FS320

 MEETING LOCATIONS:  Carpool/Caravan to cleanup site, leaving at 8:15am

               FROM MONUMENT:  No caravan/carpool group. Follow directions listed below to site.

               FROM WOODLAND PARK Woodland Park Middle School ,(600 E. Kelley’s Rd, WP), parking lot on Rampart Range Road. Leaving at 8:15am

You may also choose not to caravan and drive directly to the Briefing site.

 DIRECTIONS FROM MONUMENT

From I25, take the Monument exit #161.

Take a left onto Hwy 105

Continue through the light by the oil change center through downtown Monument.

After you cross the railroad tracks take a left onto Mitchell Ave at the stop sign

Continue approximately 1.5 miles to Mt. Herman Road on the right

(A few FoF signs will also be provided along the way)

Follow Mt. Herman Rd. 2.1 miles until it forks, and stay left.

Follow 4.8 miles to FS Road 320A, immediately after the gate.

 

DIRECTIONS FROM WOODLAND PARK

(FoF signs will also be provided along the way)

At McDonald’s turn onto Baldwin, which becomes Rampart Range Rd.

At Kelley’s Rd at the WP Middle School continue on Rampart Range Rd 1.6 miles.

At the “Y” of Loy Creek & Rampart Range Rd NF, go left

Continue 1.1 miles to another “Y” of Loy Creek and Rampart Range Rd, go left

At this point the road becomes dirt and is also labeled as CR 300

Continue 2.5 miles to CR 320 and turn right

Continue 5.1 miles to FS 320A, which will go straight as CR 320 goes right, through a gate.

 

The road is entirely dirt, and can get bad in places.  4wd is not required but the road can get very washboard so a sturdy car is advised.

BRING:  Refillable water bottle/camelback, gloves, wear sunscreen, a coat, long pants & STURDY shoes/boots

PROVIDED:  water, gloves (if needed), grabbers, trash bag

Pike's Peak Raceway Cleanup

20 LUCKY VOLUNTEERS will get the opportunity for a cleanup of the 7 main spectator areas after the main cleanup after the Pike’s Peak International Hill Climb. We will only be cleaning up the smaller items that may have been missed during the initial cleanup after the race. Admission to Pike’s Peak will be covered, so after the cleanup plan to enjoy the day on the mountain

VOLUNTEER LIMIT to the first 20 volunteers to PRE-REGISTER will be sent detailed instructions for the meeting location, admission to Pike’s Peak, etc. Once all 20 spaces are filled Pre-Registration will be closed.

TnT - Trucks 'n' Trailers CLEANUP

A DYNAMITE CleanUp on Old Stage Rd & Upper Gold Camp Rd using Trucks ‘n’ Trailers.  Rolloffs will be staged at the bottom of the mountain at the El Pomar Foundation and at the top before getting to Victor.  Bring a truck and/or trailer if possible to help transport what is collected to the rolloffs, otherwise come join us for a day in the mountains making a difference.

DONATE your aluminum cans support the development of a recycling program in the Woodland Park area. This new recycling program hopes to expand to accept items that are not easily disposed of or recycled. 

Can Tabs - if possible, please remove tabs from cans (we will provide a cute little container to collect them in). Tabs are collected by Kiwanis and donated to support the Ronald McDonald House.

Shelf Road Community CLEANUP Continued

FoF volunteers will be joining the Shelf Road community to clean up the area right outside of Cripple Creek. A great opportunity to work with the community to make it better for everyone involved

Lunch:   Bring your favorite

Continue 1/4 mile and look for Focus on the Forest Compactor

TnT - Trucks 'n' Trailers CLEANUP

A DYNAMITE CleanUp on Old Stage Rd & Upper Gold Camp Rd using Trucks ‘n’ Trailers.  Rolloffs will be staged at the bottom of the mountain at the El Pomar Foundation and at the top before getting to Victor.  Bring a truck and/or trailer if possible to help transport what is collected to the rolloffs, otherwise come join us for a day in the mountains making a difference.

Meeting Location:  Turnout on Old Stage Rd/Gold Camp Rd, north(west) of St. Peter’s Dome

The road is entirely dirt, and can get bad in places.  4wd is not required but the road can get very washboard so a sturdy car is advised.

DIRECTIONS:  FROM COLORADO SPRINGS

From Hwy 24, head South on 21st St (which becomes Cresta Rd)

Turn RIGHT on W. Cheyenne Rd

Turn LEFT on Mayhurst Ave

Turn LEFT on Mesa Ave

Turn RIGHT on Park Ave (which becomes El Pomar Rd)

Turn LEFT on Penrose Blvd

Turn RIGHT on Old Stage Rd (FS 368)

Continue on Old Stage Rd past the Old Stage Riding Stables.

Stay right to stay on Old Stage Rd (FS 368)

Along the way, the road also becomes Gold Camp Rd.

Follow the FoF signs and look for the large turnout on the side of the road

Approximate Time & Distance Hwy 24 & 21st Street is 14 miles, 50 min

FROM VICTOR/DIVIDE SIDE:

Hwy 67 South

Turn LEFT Hwy 81 (Lazy S Ranch Rd)

Turn LEFT ON Upper Gold Camp Rd (becomes Gold Camp Rd)

Follow Gold Camp road through the tunnels to the large turnout on the right
